inaam vs raiz.

Raiz invests your spare change into a ready-made portfolio. inaam is one impact fund where you customise the themes and can read every company by name. Here is how the two differ, in each provider’s own numbers.

Sign-up happens in the app. The subscription is $10 a month, $120 a year. The minimum to invest in the fund is $100.

the short answer

Raiz is a micro-investing app. It rounds up your everyday purchases and invests the spare change, alongside any regular or lump sum deposits, into a preset portfolio. You can start with $5. It charges a monthly fee by plan: $2.50 on Lite, from $5.50 on Regular and from $6.50 on Plus, with 0.275% a year added on larger balances.

inaam is an impact investing app built on one registered fund. You customise five impact themes, the fund picks companies against three published pillars, and every company it holds is named in the app. The subscription is $10 a month whatever your balance, and the minimum to invest in the fund is $100.

So the choice is mostly about what you want the app to do. Raiz is built to get small amounts invested with as little thought as possible. inaam is built so you can see what your money owns and say where it is aimed.

in plain words

where the two differ

how the money gets in

Raiz rounds up your purchases and sweeps the spare change in, and it takes deposits too. With inaam you invest $100 or more at a time, as a lump sum or on a schedule you set.

what you pay as you grow

Raiz charges by plan, and adds 0.275% a year above $26,000 on Regular and above $28,000 on Plus. inaam stays at $10 a month. On a small balance a flat amount is a large share of it, and the fee calculator shows the maths at your balance.

an ethical option, or the whole fund

Raiz has Emerald, its socially responsible portfolio, among the eight preset portfolios on its Regular plan. At inaam the whole fund is picked for impact.

what you can see

Raiz shows the funds in your portfolio. inaam names every company the fund holds, with the reason it is there.

who raiz suits

Raiz suits someone who wants spare change invested without thinking about it. A round-up app does that better than we do.

who inaam suits

inaam suits someone who wants the picking done for them, wants to read what they own, wants to say which themes the money is aimed at, and is investing for three to seven years. The fund’s target market determination says it has not been designed for anyone who needs access to their capital at short notice, or who is risk-averse and not in a position to tolerate a capital loss.

inaam vs raiz, quick answers.

is inaam or raiz cheaper?

It depends on your balance and the Raiz plan you pick. Raiz charges $2.50 a month on Lite, from $5.50 on Regular and from $6.50 on Plus, and adds 0.275% a year on larger balances. inaam charges $10 a month whatever your balance, plus a buy-sell spread of 0.1% when you invest and when you leave. Work out the yearly total at your own balance from each provider’s current fee page.

does raiz have an ethical portfolio?

Yes. Emerald is Raiz’s socially responsible portfolio. At inaam the whole fund is picked for impact across five themes, and members customise those themes.

what is the minimum to start with raiz and with inaam?

Raiz publishes a $5 minimum. The minimum to invest in the inaam fund is $100, and the $10 a month subscription is a separate amount.

can i hold raiz and inaam at the same time?

Yes. They are separate products from separate providers, and holding one does not affect the other. Whether either suits you depends on your own circumstances.
