inaam vs spaceship.

Spaceship Voyager is a growth investing app with five portfolios to pick from. inaam is one impact fund you customise by theme. Here is how they differ, in each provider’s own numbers.

Sign-up happens in the app. The subscription is $10 a month, $120 a year. The minimum to invest in the fund is $100.

the short answer

Spaceship Voyager is a growth investing app. It has no minimum, and you choose from five portfolios: Universe, Earth, Origin, Galaxy and Explorer. Each portfolio carries a management fee of 0.15% to 0.50% a year. On top of that there is one monthly fee of $3, which does not apply while every portfolio is under $100.

inaam is an impact investing app built on one registered fund. You customise five impact themes, the fund picks companies against three published pillars, and every company it holds is named in the app. The subscription is $10 a month whatever your balance, and the minimum to invest in the fund is $100.

The two are built for different instincts. Spaceship offers a small number of portfolios aimed at long-run growth, and one of them, Earth, is picked for positive impact. At inaam the whole fund is picked for impact, and you say which themes it leans toward.

in plain words

where the two differ

what the money buys

Spaceship gives you five preset portfolios to choose between. inaam is one fund across five impact themes, and you customise the themes your money is aimed at.

what you pay as you grow

Spaceship charges $3 a month once any portfolio reaches $100, plus 0.15% to 0.50% a year on each portfolio, so what you pay there rises with your balance. inaam stays at $10 a month. On a small balance a flat amount is a large share of it, and the fee calculator shows the maths at your balance.

one impact portfolio, or the whole fund

Spaceship’s Earth portfolio picks companies expected to have a positive impact on people and the planet, and screens out sectors including fossil fuels, weapons, tobacco and gambling. It is one of the five. At inaam every company is picked against the same three pillars.

what you can see

Spaceship publishes its portfolio holdings. inaam names every company the fund holds in the app, with the reason it is there.

who spaceship suits

Spaceship suits someone who wants long-run growth from a ready-made portfolio and wants to start with any amount.

who inaam suits

inaam suits someone who wants the picking done for them, wants to read what they own, wants to say which themes the money is aimed at, and is investing for three to seven years. The fund’s target market determination says it has not been designed for anyone who needs access to their capital at short notice, or who is risk-averse and not in a position to tolerate a capital loss.
